Oh thanks! That’s very helpful :D Also I will check that user out and see what they say!
Strangely enough his fins have been like that (like, exactly like that, shape for shape - I’ve compared pictures) for about a year now. I thought he had fin rot as well when I noticed his fins deteriorating about a year or so ago and treated him three or four times for it using various methods. It’s something that has concerned me for a long time. Originally I believed he had torn his fins on a plastic tree and so I removed it and replaced it with his real plant. The fins only got worse and worse, same with his dulled coloring. I am convinced it’s not fin rot at this point since there are no black marks or redness around the edges (the picture isn’t 100% color accurate) and the fins haven’t deteriorated further (as said, they look exactly the same, like they are permanently stuck in this tattered shape). I have another betta that actually did experience fin rot and successfully treated him. It’s a really aggravating mystery!
As for the cycling, it is not. I tried reading up on how to cycle tanks because I wanted to do it when I first upgraded him, but it confused me and I couldn’t afford to buy the testing kits (and I don’t know what to look for anyway, I’m honestly not experienced with fish outside of bettas, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a betta in a filtered tank instead of a bowl. I’m constantly looking up proper ways to care for them since I’m willing to learn!).
Do you have any suggestions? Posting this was honestly a last ditch effort in getting attention from anyone who’s a better fish expert than me, because I’m always worried about him and willing to try anything to help improve his condition. Every time I look at the old photos of him I keep wondering what I’m doing wrong. And also get further confused because his behavior hasn’t changed at all! So he’s not showing typical signs of illnesses. I’m thinking of going out and buying some aquarium salt since that’s one treatment I’ve never tried since I always hear mixed opinions on its effectiveness.
This is my betta Picard. This is one fish. THE SAME FISH. Over the course of 2 years. Someone explain to me how this happened. He went from living in a barely 1 gallon bowl to a 2.5 gallon heated, filtered tank. You’d think it would have the opposite effect and he’d get better in these improved conditions.
I think he’s trying to be like my character of the same name and trying to be androgyne. Like a little troll.
I’m in the process of (now almost finished) watching the movie “God’s Not Dead” and it’s rather disappointing. As a Christian myself, I admit to being personally hurt and offended when people try to put down the invisible deity I have dedicated a portion of my life to. And I can say I have personally had Atheists attack my belief, call me stupid, and tell me I’m ignorant. Heck, my dad went through the IDENTICAL situation of the main character in this film, where his professor told the entire class God is Dead and threw the bible in the trashcan. He failed my dad twice for standing up for his belief (and in the end although the professor didn’t change his mind he did respect my dad). So the films main plot is absolutely plausible, albeit less in current times since most schools make putting down students’ religions punishable.
But the movie itself… It’s trying too hard. All the atheists in the film have bad things happening to them (including cancer and family disowning) as if to imply if you do not believe in God then your lack of faith will turn around to punish you as well. I can understand what the film is trying to do; it’s trying to show that through God you can find comfort and support. But I can’t say I like how if you aren’t being punished for being atheist then you’re just a cruel, heartless asshole. All the atheists do in this movie is make fun of Christians, try to disprove God, or generally act like self righteous jerks. Something I know is not true of most atheists.
So I think, while I like the potential of where the film wanted to go, and I quite liked the debates and metaphors in the film, in the end it was far too… Preachy? One sided? Especially when all the atheists/other religions ended up converting/coming to terms at the end, which is highly illogical. Which, granted, it’s target audience is Christians so it wasn’t surprising. It wasn’t nearly as bad as the reviews make it out to be (I would say 1/5 stars is a harsh rating) but I was looking forward to this movie and was a little disappointed in the outcome.
I just… I really want a Christian story that doesn’t condemn other religions (or Atheism) or beliefs while at the same time can show the power of God’s love and the good things the faith can do. To show that Atheists and Christians and other religions can work together without being asses to each other. That’s all I want.
I was having one of those nights where I was disappointed in my improvement level and decided to work from some reference material for anatomy study. After not finding any stock references that perked my interest, I decided to type in “gay man” in dA’s Stock search since I was trying to find a skinny man for Picard and just normal “man” brought up muscular dudes (also for sick curiosity). What popped up was a multitude of beautiful things that I instantly had to surf through and choose because they called to me - I picked more but my hand is cramping from these!
So then these happened! The lone Audi mostly because I found a model that actually had his body type. The rest because nonsense that’s why. Also I don’t believe in nipples they are a lie.
I like to feel the last two have a cohesive story to them that bring my heart many-a-giggle.
Some proportions don’t quite match up with the source material because I started falling asleep half way through but overall I like how this went! NAKED MEN AND BOOTIES OH BOY!

The Selection Ch. 2 page 9 is up! Just like a promised!
Next TS page is alllllmost done. It only needs some background shading. But I am tired and need to wake up early tomorrow so I will finish it and post it up tomorrow before my evening class!
Enjoy lazily drawn limo until then.
I felt like drawing something ridiculously “generic” and also eye blinding. My eyes were literally aching while coloring this. I admit it turned out kinda cool, but I probably won’t do anything like it again unless someone wants it! And by that I mean pay for it because oww pffff
Whenever I die in the hopefully far distant future, I want a white casket and I want everyone to draw all over it with colorful markers. Like, just draw whatever. Unicorns, stick men, dragons, incomprehensible scribbles, man eating plants, appropriate fan art to my tastes (if you draw Homestuck I will haunt you), maybe even a dick if you’re uncreative. But make it tasteful and nicely drawn. This is my wish okay. Don’t forget it.
